I don't get why people say that when it was popular in both Japan and overseas, sold a bunch of merch, had a bunch of official anthologies (including an official unofficial doujin…) and still has several more arcs in the manga plus two spin-offs that could be used to pad out some episodes. It was one of the most watched anime week after week. It has cross-demographic appeal with plenty of waifus to make merch of. It seems quite likely that KyoAni will eventually make a second season, even if it takes a few years.
