Yes that's actually in the movie.Symbiotes end up killing their hosts unless they find someone who is perfectly compatible and Venom and Eddie are just that. They get separated because reasons, and it hijacks Brock's ex-fiance and murders a bunch of dudes before returning to Brock in the middle of the make-out.
