Until shooter #68 happens and suddenly the amount of mass shootings skyrockets the day after.

He has a very valid point, but, like someone on this site once mentioned, there really is no good solution to this. Fully reveal their identity = they get glory and the cycle continues; hide their identities = get accused by opposing political parties of hiding "the truth" to fit an agenda; partially show their identity = you suck at journalism.

People will find a way to be mad about it one way or another. I am also not sure if this would work every time, seeing how a lot of US shooters commit suicide right away, thus probably not caring too much about the glory they never get to experience in life. They can try, I guess – this is actually how it is handled in my country for most criminals – but benefitial results are not a fully given chance, mind you.
