Dungeons and Dragons - after a few sessions, a player's true character shines through

I never played D&D.
I always wanted to, but I have nobody to play with.

If it makes you feel any better, one of my characters turned into a conspiracy theorist due to rolling a critical fail on an investigation check (despite being proficient in investigation and having good intelligence)
sent the whole game off the rails too for several sessions
