I dunno, for me it didn't reach full horror-show level until White Diamond started playing mind games with Steven, about how he surrounds himself with deeply flawed people to make himself feel better, and pointing out all the things he knows about his mother that he shouldn't know about UNLESS he really IS Pink Diamond in denial. Ripping out Steven's gem was freaky too.
