To repeat what I said in the r/dankmemes thread : "To me, it’s one thing to either play the song poorly or to not play it all, it’s a completely different thing to tease the song for weeks, play an animated introduction with the original voice of Squidward, play a little bit of the trumpet section only to then stop and play some rap song from a guy I’ve never heard of instead. There’s no other way around it, the NFL, Maroon 5 and Pepsi lied to us in order to get us to watch the Super Bowl. Saying that “it’s ok, we should feel honoured to even be acknowledged in the first place” is just a lie. They played us and completely disrespected Stephen. They should have just either not said anything or said “we can’t fit the song into the performance” and I would have been perfectly fine. But to do this shows just how heartless these people really are."
