Peter was the men befindthe mask of Chewbacca n ne ongnal hlogy, episode 3 of the prequels, and the New Trilogy He fought his way back frombeing wheelchair-bound to stand tall and potray Chewbacca once more in Star Wars The Force Awakens He also consuted on The Last Jedi in an atternpt to teach his successor He put his heart and soul into the role of Chewbecca and i showed in every tame of the tims tom his knock kneed running, firing his bowcaster from the hip, his bright blue eyes, down to each subtle movement of his head and moun But, to him, the Star Wars family meant somuch more to him than a role in a fin The relationships that began then grew into the friends and family that he would love for decedes to corne As the films releesed and became more wel-knwn he hed hs eyes opened to th possbilties of what he could achieve with his sole in the Star Wars universe. For more than 30 years prter traveled ·over the world spending trme with his fans and triends Peter developed lifeliang friendships wth the other cast members and his fans while on the convention cirouit touching the lives of milions. As he realized over the years the impect he could have, he became heavly involved with the 501st legion, Wounded Warriors, Make-a-Wsh, and cther non-profe organiations PETER MAYHEW MAY 19,1944 To this end, he established the Peter Mayhew Foundation, supporting everything hom individuals and famlies in crisis situations to food and supplies for children of Venezuele during their recent road to freedom. He mot ony provided funds but became person ally involved with each individual, amily and couse he supported As he grew oider he continued to "solder on" as he put it and was completely in his element around his fans and supparters He grewgreat strengh trom the energy of his family friends and the fans he knew and loved APRIL30,2019 He is survived by his wite Angie and three children. His kindness, generosity and care vwill Iive on in the Peter Mayhew Foundation with Angie taking the helm as his voice. There will be a memorial service for fmends and femily held on June 29h and in earty December in Los Angeles here will be a memorial for fans set up wth his family in atendance, personal efleds and collection at EmpireConLA.
