Better solution: don't reward Game Freak for their ineptitude/laziness/whatever by buying the games. Cancel your pre-orders and don't buy the games at launch. I'm sure they can afford to take a hit, but it will at least make them know that this shit is unacceptable. Make them know that years of unfinished games is unacceptable. If they fix it later, buy it later, but if everyone buys the games at launch, then even if GF fixes things for this game, it's very likely that they'll release another unfinished game next time, like almost every other AAA developer has been doing for years. In fact, do this for every AAA game that gets released in an unfinished state or requires a Day 1 patch. The industry will become much healthier if we all do that.

Did… you even read the post? Literally, the first thing they say is to release the game as planned to avoid the crunch. And your own solutions are mentioned as well.
