r/WayForward James Montagna on Shantae's Age u/ShantaeThrowaway Recently, I have seen discussion on Twitter where former fans of the Shantae games were expressing discomfort at a Tweet from the WayForward account that said Shantae is about 16 years old The Shantae games have always had adult jokes and fanservice, so l can understand how this new information could make people uncomfortable with the content in the previous games and in upcoming ones. A friend of mine asked James Montagna of WayForward about this issue, and this is how he responded: https://imgur.com/a/VtDx7pu The quick takeaways: 1. The tweet claiming Shantae is 16 was made by a social media intern that no longer works with WayForward. Nobody is sure where the information she tweeted came from. 2. Nobody on the Shantae team knew about the tweet or ever worked on a Shantae game under the impression that Shantae was 16 3. The Shantae team cares a great deal about not making people uncomfortable with the Shantae games by not going too far with the adult jokes and fanservice visuals
