Please die in a hole with me When I first watched this, I was trying to figure out why it is scary. Because you see, the first viewing didn't creep me out that much. But, later on that same night, I finally understood. Tlike to shower very late, and so there I was, going to the bathroom in the dark. Of course, the way our brains are, OF COURSE one of the first things that popped up in my head was this video. At first I didn't think very much of it, but then I started to look around... There is this funny thing called Pareidolia- "a psychological phenomenon in which the mind responds to a stimulus, usually an image or a sound, by perceiving a familiar pattern where none exists". Suddenly, the patterns on the walls looked disturbing, the shampoo bottles were displayed in such a way that it looked like a laughing face, so on and so on. And for a while, I thought I finally understood why the video was so good. But there was more to it... as it went on, the patterns started to appear more and more, so many that I kept trying to ignore it and just be done with the shower. I was ignoring the faces... There are no faces. THAT'S the big drop. The video didn't scare me with a cheap jumpscare, it did not creep me out with a well- crafted horror scene, not even with a story with a terrible twist at the end. Rather, it was a much present, much more real and simple fear... I did NOT want to dream with the faces. And that's why I think it's so great now.
