That sorta makes sense; the original joke behind the AVGN was that he was a parody of nitpicky game reviewers, which were as visible of a problem in 2004 as in 2020. However, too little people got the joke and took the videos at face-value, which is what led to the shift in more serious, unironic reviews as well as the more honest re-reviews of titles that were subject of much earlier episodes.

As a result, it makes sense that a somewhat early video in the AVGN back-catalog would involve the Nerd nitpicking about a game that James Rolfe himself enjoys.

On a related note,James himself said that despite all the complaints in his video,he actually likes the game.
