When people complain games are too political they're not talking about general themes of factional conflict or differences in philosophy in the service of the game's overall story. They're referring to self-congratulatory topical hot takes where the story takes a clear backseat to agenda-driven browbeating. The former is "here's a cool story about different factions duking it out and the underlying themes that drive them." The latter is "hey you stupid gamer, here's what you must believe. Oh, uh, here's some microtransactions as well."
I have seen people on twitter who have gotten pissed at there being any politics in video games period. I completely agree with your comment, but be aware that loonies do definitely exist, even if they are the outlier
