Since the mom has custody of the kid, he doesn't get to see Junior very often. Gex never really moved on from what happened with his own dad, leaving him feeling ill-prepared for fatherhood. He walked out on the kid at a young age and only recently decided to establish contact and try to be a parent. The mom isn't thrilled, but she's willing to give Gex a chance so long as he doesn't screw things up. Unfortunately for Gex, Junior doesn't understand any of his cultural reference points (which is the only way Gex knows how to communicate). Conversely, Gex doesn't really get any of this "new media" his kid is obsessed with. Tiktoks? Let's Plays? Why would you want to watch someone else play a video game? Make it make sense! The Big Bad • Oh no! Rez is BACK and this time his target is that very same media Junior is obsessed with: New Media! Specifically, web media. Netflix! Twitch! YouTube! Cable is dead, and Rez must set his sights on the entire internet if he wishes to rebuild his media empire. • Gex may not understand new media, but Junior is devastated by Rez's takeover. For the first time in his life, Gex must fight to free the New Media dimension not as a fanatic... but as a father. If Gex wants to win his son's favor, he needs to put a stop to Rez's plan. However, being out of his depth when it comes to internet culture, he knows he can't do this alone... Gex's Disaffected Zoomer Niece Born around the turn of the century, she is young enough to share Gex Jr's cultural references and old enough to occasionally figure out what the hell her uncle is talking about. Her parents, after seeing what TV addiction did to Gex, severely limited her television hours growing up. Because of this she relished any time she was able to spend over at Uncle Gex's place, since he let her watch whatever she wanted. While they don't exactly have a close emotional bond, she is fond of her uncle... even though she thinks he is "kind of cringe." Gex enlists her help to save the New Media dimension and, by extension, his relationship with his son. Serves as Gex's personal guide to the internet. Enjoys 80's/90's throwback media, despite not really getting the references (Gex is happy to explain them to her) Does impressions (like her uncle) but is REALLY bad at them (unlike her uncle). Manages Gex's social media because she understands that he should never, EVER be allowed to post. Never. Here's how you can understand the Gex Family: Gex makes Star Wars references.
