It's always been a consistent pattern of any communist government to abandon or turn against the revolutionaries that allowed them to be into power in the first place
Ah shit, not the "Yuri Bezmenov predicted it!" again…
TL;DR : Bezmenov is not wrong, but belonged to a time where the Cold War between America and Russia was tremendous, and is easily used today as a way to depreciate every leftist statement by making it a part of the russian grand scheme to destroy America.
I mean, he's right of course : this guy knows what he's talking about, and believed that America was threatened during the Cold War.
The problem with the Bezmenov's subversion theory is not the theory itself but that a lot of people that uses it today to own Leftits forget the main point of Bezmenov's model, that the problem is and will always be related to Russia.
It means the only solution he came with was for America to stand against Soviet Russia (in a time were Reagan was eager to do it) and promote patriotism (for the country he fell in love) in schools.
In the end, it just makes evey political statement against the establishment, every argument for Social Justice, every discussion about non conservatives values a potential threat schemed by the big bad Russian spies.
You can't just take Bezmenov out of his context to feed a MacCarthian conspiracy theory : not every leftist is a "useful idiot" working for Russia just like every conservative point isn't a way to support the Bad Orange Man or NRA's lobbying…
