Well the Twitter-SJW crowds and those comparable to them do tend to screech whenever someone depicts a country in their works when they're not from said country. There were a few outcries against Nintendo with the Odyssey over its cultural influences. Or even recently with people calling Ghost of Tsushima problematic because it's made by a western studio.

Or Speedy Gonzales being one of the more famous examples, as people complained about him being racist despite being one of the most popular characters in Mexico.
