About
Hiplet is a slang term for a woman with "hip dips," meaning natural indentations on the outer thighs just below the hip bone that make the hips appear less round and more concave.
The term and concept of being a hiplet were popularized in late June 2026, primarily on TikTok, by user @damionstalino through a series of trolling videos that portray hip dips as a sign of bone recession. In the videos, he repeats the idea that hiplets are cute, but in a sisterly or friendly sense, rather than a romantic sense. Purportedly, the use of the term is meant to make a point about women who say they prefer tall men.
The term spread as a way of criticizing women's bodies in a snarky, ironic way. This resulted in videos not only of women complaining about being hiplets, but also criticizing men for coming up with the term. It also inspired videos where women discourage each other from taking the term seriously. The term is likely a play on the slang term "manlet," referring to men who are below six feet in height and feel compelled to emphasize their masculinity through weight lifting and body building.
Origin
"Hip dip" is a term that describes a common bone structure that causes an indentation in the hips, making them appear less round.[1] While building muscle in the glutes or getting cosmetic surgery can be done to lessen the appearance of hip dips, they are a natural part of the anatomy and cannot be prevented with diet or exercise.
On June 16th, 2026, TikToker[2] @damionstalino posted a trollish video captioned, "Women with hip dips are beautiful and perfect. I will never be attracted to them, but they're still beautiful and perfect," gaining over 1.5 million views in just over a week.
The TikToker posted numerous videos over the following days criticizing women who have hip dips, repeatedly insisting that, while women with hip dips are still attractive, they're not worth dating and are only worth being seen as "little sisters" or friends. He also posted videos suggesting that hip dips are a sign of bone recession.[3]
