To be fair, the Duke Nukem Forever that was released was not the cumulation of ~15 years of development; they outright started over from scratch multiple times during that period. The game we got probably didn't spend any longer being made than the industry average.

They said, they weren't going to do crunch anymore, then they did crunch anyway.
They said, they weren't going to be delayed anymore, then they delayed it.
