Even most professors actually do not earn that much. Most professors are adjuncts, which means that they are temporarily hired and paid for each class they teach (and it is usually only a few thousand dollars). Adjuncts regularly have to negotiate contracts with the schools and often have to teach at multiple schools simultaneously to make a living.
