A Retrospective On Each Art Site

DeviantArt: Most popular art site on the internet with a large user base and pretty good for archieving and organizing art with its folder gallery. However it has strict rules against NSFW content despite its infamous reputation for being a fetish site, a long history of poor User Interface and community have been dying down thanks to the rise of many other art platforms.

Tumblr: A blog site who has gain a lot of traction among the art community for its more laxed guidelines on NSFW content and served as a helpful way to get notice as a content creator. However the site doesn’t have a good easy to interface to allow for archieving and orgainizing art, is aimed to being a blog then an actual art site and is RIFE with controversy that drove artists away.

Twitter: Social media site that has a VERY large audience that is sure fire for artists to get their work viewed; plus lax on NSFW content. Except it algorithm tends to favor people who is constantly posting making it difficult for their work to get notice and the only way to actually get notice is from tags from mutuals or art shares. Also site seems to hate artists a lot.

Instagram: Basically the true Twitter for artist that is aimed for posting photos and shit as much as possible. Though has strict NSFW guidelines and favors camwhores more.

Newgrounds: NSFW is allowed, favors creators of all kind and give them exposure, archieving isn’t a nightmare or joke, and can be seen as the best place for artist, right? Yeah, if you are lucky to be scouted by the users on the site and people give a fuck to actually vote on your stuff; basically the privilege of getting notice all hangs on a scoring system and a community of circle jerkers. Well at least it ain’t 4chan.

4Chan: Just don’t.

Pixiv: Okay this is the perfect place for posting art . . . as long as you don’t mind the Japanese censorship rules (no visible dicks and pussy allow) and language barrier in the community.

In short, all these sites have their ups and downs. So pretty much it all depends on preference. Either way, its hell to get notice as creator with these sites.
