A dark entity descends. It likes the cut of your jib and offers you 1 of the 4 following gifts of immortality. It also offers you 5 bone fragments and 25 creation coins to further enhance yourself. Perks under a particular type of immortality can only be purchased if you had chosen that type. General perks can be purchased by all. You must pick one of the following forms of immortality. The dark entity will not take no for an answer. You can customize your particular type of immortality with the 5 bone fragments it gave you. Perk costs and requirements, if any, are listed next to the perks' names. Caged bird Predator You are whisked away to an one acre sized floating island in a pocket dimension. The island overlooks a beautiful, endless ocean below, and experiences changes in seasons the same as earth. Two moons adorn the sky in the night time. You are whisked away and deposited in a random civilized world in the multiverse. You also become a type of vampire, and have little fangs. You must consume blood from sapient beings to sustain yourself. Failure to do so will result in excruciating pain and eventually slow death. The island is partially forested, with a single, modest sized home located in the center. The home is furnished with modern As you are, draining significant amounts of blood while leaving your victim alive can sustain you for 3 days; draining enough to kill them will provide you with sustenance for about 2 weeks. conveniences and will continue to update according to the most advanced technology that is commercially available on earth. Should human civilization decline or die out, the home will maintain access to the most advanced level of technology it ever had. The home's kitchen is also fully stocked with healthy, delicious food for You are un-aging. Each time you die, you enter an unpleasant state akin to a dreamless sleep in an uncomfortable position, and would revive again in perfect condition in a safe locale after several weeks to several centuries. The more frequently you die and revive, the longer this period becomes; avoiding death for a long time will decrease it. you. No other living creatures exist on the island. The home can access radio stations and the multiverse equivalent of the internet. You can never physically leave the pocket dimension, and nothing can ever enter either. Inside the dimension you are un-aging. Wounds heal normally. If you should ever manage to kill yourself, you simply revive the next day good as new. In the event that the world you're on runs out of beings for you to feed on, you will automatically be transported to a random new world where victims are available. Bigger is Better - 1 fragment - Allow you to freely change the size of your island and/or home up to triple their current size. This purchase can be purchased multiple times. This perk is multiplicative; 3 purchases of this results in an island/home that's up to 27 times the original size. Psychic Vampirism I - 1 fragment - Gazing intently upon a living, sapient individual within 25 feet can now provide psychic energy used to satisfy your need for blood. This act would drain the victim of their life force and plunge them into illness and depression if done for over 10 minutes on them. Psychically draining people for 3 hours can satisfy your need for blood for up to 1 week, and gives you a gentle, pleasant high while doing so. Dominion – 1 fragment - Allow you to shape your island as you please, and change the environment and even seasons it experiences. Also allow you to freely change the aesthetics of your home, down to the clothing it contains in the wardrobe and food in the kitchen. Psychic Vampirism II – 2 fragments, req. Psychic Vampirism I - You can now psychically drain life energy from multiple beings at once so long as they are within 25 feet of you. Depending on the number of targets, you can satisfy your need for blood within 5 to 15 minutes, and can enjoy an even stronger mental high. This technique also greatly reduces the harm done to the individuals you drain energy from. Astral Projection - 1 fragment - Allow you to astral project to the general multiverse in a form that's invisible and intangible to every being you encounter for up to 5 hours a day. You can choose to go to a random world, many of which populated by living beings, or return to a world you've visited previously. Civilized worlds are much harder to find. 1 fragment – Sucking someone's Advanced Sanguine Vampirism blood while leaving them enough to live can now satisfy you for up to 1 month. Draining someone to death can satisfy you for 4 months. This act also provides an intense euphoric feeling akin to a hit of opium, but with none of the ill side effects. Physical Projection - 2 fragment, req. Astral Projection - Allow you to project as a physical being to the multiverse for up to 10 hours a day. Astral projection is still possible, but shares the same 10 hour time limit. You project clothed as you are, and with all special abilities fully functional. Injuries received during projection are fully healed when you return. Death suffered during projection will result in your immediate return to the island, and a 2 week cooldown period before you can project again. You can neither bring anything back nor leave anything behind when you project. Life Drain - 2 fragments, req. Psychic Vampirism I - By combining psychic and sanguine vampirism, you can drain any individual of their life force, so long as they are in sight and within 25 feet of you. People will be able to see visible, glowing energy coming out of the victim and into your mouth, and will intrinsically understand this as a very evil action. While ongoing, life draining will immobilize both the victim and you, and will provide an euphoric high about half as powerful as that of Advanced Sanguine Vampirism. Life draining someone to death will take only minutes, can be stopped as needed, and can satisfy you for up to 1 week. Animal Companion - 1 fragments - Allow you to pick 1 animal of a type that currently exists on earth as your companion. Food and other supplies needed to care for this animal will also be generated in your home. This animal shares the same type of immortality as Mist Form - 2 fragments - You can now turn yourself into a silvery, intangible fog capable of passing through solid objects. With some practice, this can be used as a defensive technique. While in mist form, you can also hover several stories above ground. Mist form is very tiring to sustain for long. you. Sharing is Caring - 2 fragments - Allow you to freely give and remove any abilities you own to your animal companion. You can also simultaneously project to the same location. You can have a fire breathing bear as your personal enforcer - as long as you can actually get it to listen to you. Night's Blessing - 1 fragment - Gain 10 more creation coins. You now require an invitation to enter into any private residence. Locations such as stores, hotels and other places where the general population is implicitly invited are not affected. Sun light now burns your skin, even through clothing. Exposure to the sun for several minutes is enough to kill you. You can also now see perfectly in the dark. Switcheroo - 1 fragment - Gain 1 creation coin. Can be purchased multiple times. SE Tyrant Scavenger You are transported to a random civilized world in the multiverse. You can create kaijus as a very tiring action, performed once every several weeks. They tend to fit the flavor of the world they are in - a sword and sorcery world may see dragons and hydras, while a high tech futuristic world may see mechanical monstrosities. You are whisked away and deposited in a random, civilized world in the multiverse. This is a world that is dying. Be it a magical cataclysm that makes everyone who have a mana pool instantly explode in a high magic world, something as plain as an outbreak of deadly disease or something as cliché as zombies, this is a world that is on its last throes. Kaijus you create will have the form and abilities you design for them, fit loosely within the flavor of the world. They are empowered by your negative emotions. The angrier, lonelier, more frustrated, bitter, jealous, overall more negative you were feeling during its creation, the more powerful it will be. The world and the civilization on it may last anywhere from a couple of days (i.e, everyone exploding magically) to a couple of centuries (fallout style slow extinction in a post-apocalyptic world), depending on the nature of the world and the cause of its demise. The likelihood for these worlds to be saved is astronomically low, but not impossible. Wreaking havoc with a kaiju will earn you destruction energy, which can be exchanged for material perks such as clothing, local currency or even minor technological gadgets from a different world. You lose destruction energy if a kaiju is destroyed - any deficits of energy will be evened out by painful electric shocks administered to You are un-aging, but curiously if you should ever die, you will simply spawn in another dying world in perfect condition, and never again be able to visit the previous one. If you are alive when the sapient population around you goes extinct, you will similarly be transported to another dying world. you. All worlds will have resistance toward kaijus - ranging from the conventional military of the realm, giant robots piloted by plucky teenagers, angsty magical girls or even just a lone, suicidal frog knight with an enchanted lance, riding on his trusty eight-legged horse. If you go on for a long time without creating kaijus, you would unconsciously create a random one the next time you experience significant amounts of negative emotion. Finders Keepers – 1 fragment - You can now bind three items you find in your travels to you. They must weigh 50 pounds or less, and be non-living. They become indestructible. You can summon and banish them freely. This can be purchased multiple times. This Works Good – 1 fragment – Three bound items of your choice will have their electricity, mana, or whatever it is that keeps them functioning fully restored once a day. The same applies to ammunitions. This can be purchased multiple times. You are un-aging and immortal like the predator. When most of the sapient beings on the world you're on dies out, you will be transported to a new civilized world to begin the cycle of destruction Heavyweight – 1 fragment - Three bound items of your choice can now be an additional 2500 pounds heavier. This can be purchased multiple times, and can be applied to a single item, like a truck, magical golem or giant mecha, multiple times as well. anew. Behemoth - 2 fragments - While basic kaijus are around 3 to 6 stories tall, kaijus you create can now reach up height. The resistance you encounter are now stronger too, so it mostly evens out in terms of combat. However, big kaijus are capable of doing a lot more damage and harm, and will subsequently earn you much more destruction energy. 15 stories in Return for Refund - 1 fragment - Every 10 years, you may unbind one chosen item from you. You can use the freed space to bind a new item, and apply whatever freed up enhancement (power, weight, etc) to this new item as well. This can be purchased multiple times. Tyrant's Greed - 3 fragments - You can now exchange surplus destruction energy for more creation coins. Efficiently destroying a whole world while suffering minimal kaiju casualty can provide enough destruction energy for a single creation coin. Plucky Plunderer - 1 fragment - You gain the ability to home in on any man-made (or whatever passes for human on a world) object you want, be it food, magic armors or vehicles. This ability does not take into account of any obstacles between you and the item, nor whether it is even functional; it simply gives you an idea on what direction to travel in to find your target, and how close it generally is. Brute's Wisdom - 1 fragment - Typical kaijus are lovably dumb, and can only follow basic commands such as "Go there!" or "Smash THAT town, but not THIS town!" via a telepathic link. With this perk, your kaijus now have the intellect of a typical 12 year old child and can execute complex stratagems. This also gives them a certain amount of free will and the capability to question your decisions. Tinker Sense - 1 fragment - You gain the ability to instantly understand a man-made item when you handle it - what it's for, and how to use it. This understanding is on a basic level akin to that of a novice, further understanding is to be accomplished through trial and error. Your ability to fix the item, if it is broken, is based on a similarly basic level (i.e, be prepared for explosions when attempting to fix anything more complex than a pocket knife). Tyrant's Retinue - 1 fragment - Kaijus who are still with you upon the end of a world may travel with you to the new world. Spirit Partner - 2 fragments - You can choose to bind the soul of one deceased sentient being you come across to you forever. Once bond, this soul becomes an entity that only you can see and hear, appearing as themselves in their healthy, youthful prime, and will remain loyal and friendly toward you. You can communicate telepathically with them. They cannot stray more than 30 feet away from you, but does have their own field of vision and can be used to scout. They cannot interact with the world at all, but can influence your sense of touch, giving you the illusion that they have made contact with you (a high five, a playful punch on the shoulder, etc). You can have a phantom dog as your eternal companion. Or a little girl. Kaiju Kamouflage - 2 fragments - Your creations can now shrink themselves down to human size freely, and take on the appearance of a normal human being of your choice. They may still be dumb as a brick, and even intelligent ones with Brute's Wisdom will be drinking out of the toilet without further education. Dumbo Drop - 1 fragment - Kaijus are typically created within 10 miles of where you are. With this perk they can be created up to 10 times that distance away from you at your discretion. This can be purchased multiple times and stacked multiplicatively (2 purchase = 100 times distance). Switcheroo - 1 fragment - Gain 1 creation coin. Can be purchased multiple times. The dark entity seems to be in a pretty good mood, and as mentioned before gives you 25 creation coins to acquire additional abilities to help you ease into your new life. Enhanced Learning - 3 coins - Your ability to learn is vastly improved, to the point of going a bit past super human levels. Have synergy with Perfect Memory. Linguist - 1 coin - You gain a knack for languages. Even the toughest language can be learned with just moderate exposure over the course of several months. Can combine with Perfect Memory and/or Enhanced Learning for even greater effect. Telepathy - 2 coins - You gain the ability to understand all sentient, living entities through telepathy, and can similarly communicate your thoughts to them. This is done on a purely mental level, so nuances in language such as slangs or poetry may not come across well. Complex ideas may be communicated less than perfectly. Have great synergy with Linguist. By the way, your cat hates you. Perfect Memory - 5 coins - You gain a photographic and perfect memory. Never again will you forget your sinful deeds. Lingua Populi – 2 coins - You acquire full knowledge of 3 of the most commonly spoken languages on each new world you arrive on. This includes both spoken and written forms. Is the grass greener on the other side? - 1 coin - Turn into the opposite gender version of yourself permanently. Age Adjustment – 1 coin - Permanently turn into a younger or older version of yourself, as you desire. Does not come with optimism or maturity. One Time Make Over - 3 coins - Completely overhaul your appearance once. Can change your gender, age and all other traits within the normal human range. The perk is linked with your subconscious and will accurately honor vague requests such as "Like this, but cuter" or "Something with sharper eyes". You can preview the final appearance before settling into it for eternity. Currency Exchange - 2 coins - Gain 1 bone fragment. Incognito - 1 coin - People will generally think of you as belonging to where you are and think nothing of your presence, even if you are on a world inhabited by giant sapient slugs. Authority figures tend to leave you along. This perk will work so long as you keep a low profile and make some minimal effort at keeping to the local social decorum. Gift of Gab - 3 coins - You can persuade living, sentient beings to do easy favors for you as long as you can communicate effectively with them. Favors such as "Lemme have the hotdog for free" or "Bear, go maul that man there who happens to be half your size, he's intruding on your territory" will be performed with little issues. "Go jump off that building!" will be refused and result in hostilities. Blue Gem - 2 coins - Being left along is one thing, but sometimes a guy just gets sick of spending millennia living among giant sapient slugs. This gem, when swallowed, will attune to your soul and enable you to arrive on worlds inhabited mainly by humanoid beings similar to you in appearance when you head to a new world. Multiple gems can work in conjunction with each other so long as they are not contradictory in nature, and their effects can be turned on and off at will. For example, activating gems that are attuned to both high tech and high magic worlds will probably get you a world with lots of magi-tech developments. Gems can also be used by the Caged Bird to easily find worlds in the multiverse with the qualities they represent. Red Gem - 2 coins - Allows you to attune to a low tech world, with technology ranging from the bronze age to early renaissance. Perfect for the tyrant who's sick of dealing with giant robots. Yellow Gem - 2 coins - Attunes you to a low magic world, where is magic either non-existent or rare enough for every mage to be treated like royalty. Orange Gem - 2 coins - Attunes you to a high tech world. Space pirates, dystopic cyber punk cities, robots and other high tech wonders are all commonly found on these worlds. Worlds like these tend to have a very diverse selection of exotic races, and most likely consider you to be just another face in the crowd. Green Gem –2 coins - Attunes you to a high magic world, where magic is widespread and commonly used in everyday life. Strange creatures and beings roam these lands. Most likely they will not bat an eye toward an outwardly human being such as yourself. Sustenance Enhancement - 2 coins - You no longer require food or water to survive. You can still eat for enjoyment. Predators already get this perk for free. Wooden trinket – 1 coin - This enchanted trinket can never be lost. When presented at an inn or any similar establishment, you will be granted free lodging as long as there are rooms available, and will receive free food as well. No IDs necessary. Cantrip of Style - 2 coins - You learn a strange little chant that fully cleans & grooms your body to your specification when muttered - hair can be cut and styled perfectly, and body hair painlessly removed per your ideal. This cantrip can also be used to summon an outfit of your choice for you to wear. Outfits will fade away 2 hours after removal. Levitation - 2 coins - You can hover up to 2 stories high in the air, and can move up to the pace of a galloping horse (25 mph) as a tiring action. Flight - 3 coins - You can go as high as 1 mile high up in the air, and can move at the pace of a running cheetah (65 mph) as a tiring action. Elemental blast – 3 coins - You gain a crude affinity with elemental magic, and can manipulate one generic fantasy element (fire, lightning, earth, etc) of your choice to perform basic attacks and defenses as a tiring action. Attacks would be simple projectiles and defenses may be simple walls of the respective element. In general, a full powered attack can easily maim a large animal such as a bear. Some elements may be more suited for one purpose than the other. You also gain resistance toward the element you choose. This can be purchased multiple times for additional elements. Your magic is about as powerful as it'd ever get without outside enhancements, and your magical skills are not likely to improve past this point. Telekinesis - 3 coins - You can telekinetically move or even throw things within a 30 feet radius that are roughly up to your body weight as a tiring action. You can effective mimic Levitation at half i strength by lifting yourself up. Telekinetic attacks are not nearly as strong as what Elemental Blast can offer, but allows you the utility of scratching parts of your body that your hands cannot reach. Strength Enhancement I - 2 coins - Your physical strength is tripled. Strength Enhancement II - 4 coins, req. Str. Enhancement I - Your physical strength is multiplied by a factor of 9. This is bear strength territory where decapitating someone with a bearhanded karate chop is possible. Agility Enhancement I - 2 coins - This triples both your overall agility and precision by a factor of 3. Constitution Enhancement I- 2 coins - Your durability and stamina is tripled by a factor of 3. Agility Enhancement II - 4 coins, req. Agi. Enhancement I - Your agility/precision is multiplied by a factor of 9. Has wonderful synergy with all manners of projectile attacks. Or baseball. Constitution Enhancement II – 4 coins, req. Con. Enhancement I - Your durability and stamina is tripled by a factor of nine. Can fly and throw fireballs all day long without getting tired. Regeneration I - 2 coins - Ordinarily you cannot regrow lost limbs except when you die and revive. Regen I allows you to regrow lost limbs over the course of a month and increases the rate at which other wounds heal as well. Regeneration II – 3 coins, req. Regen. I - Regen II greatly improves the rate at which you heal wounds. Even lost limbs can be regrown in a matter of seconds as a tiring action, and less grievous wounds heal with even less effort. Eternal Juice - 1 coin - 1 bound item of your choice will have their electricity, mana, or whatever it is that keeps them functioning fully restored once a day. The same applies to ammunitions. This can be purchased multiple times. The Weight of Love - 1 coin - 1 bound item of your choice can now be an additional 2500 pounds heavier. This can be purchased multiple times, and can be applied to a single item, like your favorite silicone love doll or a big truck. My Precious - 1 coin - You can now bind 1 item you find in your travels to you. It must weigh 50 pounds or less, and be non-living. It becomes indestructible. You can summon and banish it freely. This can be purchased multiple times. This works with objects encountered by Caged Bird during physical projections. Fashionably Late - 1 coin - instead of being transported to a different world immediately, you may stay on earth for up to an additional 3 months before taking your leave. Skill Mastery - 1 coin - Grants you knowledge on any one mundane skill on earth at a level that is on par with someone who is the best at it in the world. Setting & Clarification: All who accepts the dark entity's gift are completely immune to all mind control effects. Your actions, for better or for worse, are completely on you. Maybe this is what it wanted to see. All gifts, once received, cannot be taken away or nullified by anything else, not even the dark entity itself. Predator, Tyrant and Scavenger will always be transported to a civilized world with sapient living beings when they are moved to their next world. Out of all of these worlds, about 1/3 will have completely non-human sapient beings, i.e, giant telepathic slugs. Of the remaining 2/3, half will have humanoid but strange beings that think of you as weird looking, i.e, world dominated by goblins. The remaining half would be worlds dominated by beings that look sufficiently close enough to you for you to naturally blend in, or worlds with such diversity that you're just another face in the crowd. Without the aid of gems, Predator, Tyrant and Scavenger will be sent to a random world with a random level of magic and technology, dominated by random, possibly non-humanoid beings as mentioned above when going to their next world. Without gems, Caged Bird will spend decades hopping between worlds, many of which inhabited by various animals, before they can find a random civilized world to visit. Predator must always suck the blood or life energy of sapient living beings, meaning thinking beings who are basically the equivalent of mankind on their world. The negative effects of various vampirism skills and life drain can work on other living, sentient beings, they just provide no sustenance for the predator. If you pick perks focusing mostly on combat, on worlds with both low tech and magic, you'd most likely be the top dog around. Things that can kick your ass definitely exists on the higher tech and magic worlds, though you'd probably still be on the higher end in the food chain. On some level, you are still a human, just one whose abilities and limits has been hacked something fierce by the dark entity, as such, it is incredibly difficult to advance your abilities, be they physical, magical or otherwise, past the point where your purchases has placed you. Your only reasonable hope to advance your powers further are to hone your skills so that you can use your abilities to their fullest, and to find outside aids, such as tools and powerful items that can complement or enhance your existing abilities. 1.03
