IIRC Marx wasn't against ALL of the accomplishments of capitalism… but basically went

it will go into 1 of 2 ways: either it will be so good, capitalism makes itself obsolete by creating a paradise where EVERYTHING is automated and in abundance, so money loses all value because supply of everything is infinite (so think Star Trek)

While the second was "it's gonna be so horrible people will rebel against it" and reject ideas of materialism and money.

Which is where the idea of the statement "communism is the final form of capitalism" came from. He treats it to be inevitable either way.
