Thing is, Tieflings (the demon-like race populating the bar) are infamous for being edgy self-inserts themselves. It's not interesting, just annoying.

Bland is at least unintrusive and something that could still be built upon, but it's hard to deconstruct a Deviant-Tier OC and still have a character fun to roleplay with.

Some people just want to play as themselves as if they were isekai'd to a high fantasy world. That may not include their gender but it could include their race.
If I ever played D&D I would totally just roleplay as myself and try to just act as if I was isekai'd there or as if I lived away from all magic and non-human races for all my life.
