Most of French and English Traditional cuisine is the same.

People just think French Cuisine is better, because French was the language of European nobility for the best part of a thousand years and the comparative lack of people who speak French as a second-language means a lot of people don't actually know what they're ordering.

For example, Beef Bourguignon is just beef stew with a splash of red wine.

Croque monsieur is just a Ham and Cheese Toastie.

Ratatouille is just bog standard, no-thrills vegetable stew.

Actually, the vast majority of French Cuisine is just stews, so they're not even doing much in the way of actual cooking in the first place.

If you want actual high-quality food deserving of praise, you need to go to the Italians, Spanish and Greeks.
