It was more like… they had no CHOICE but to sell to Google.

YouTube was being sued into the ground… lawsuits they were losing.

Google money made ContentID possible and while very hit and miss, it did make it resistant to the constant barrage of copyright lawsuits, which allowed it to really prosper.

If YT hadn't sold, they would have been forced to close doors due to bankruptcy.
