A reality is that the architecture of the moon will be like the image above, with the interior with the image below. Let's be real, the real push for space colonization is going to be pushed by commerce rather than some sort of Star-Trek quest for knowledge. Whatever research and exploration there would be, would be on the backs of the commercial pioneers. This has been a natural reality of all of human history and I don't know why anyone would think otherwise.

On a side note, can I just mention how much I love terraced buildings like the ones in the top image? Obviously not the most efficient use of space, but man do they look nice (IMO).
