Regarding the fuel crisis America has the ability to produce its own fuel. It has, in fact, almost the same amount of untapped oil as Russia. They could, in fact, produce enough oil to lower gas prices to 1.4 dollars per gallon if they wanted to. But the USA wants to tap and use everyone else's oil well before they tap their own in earnest. They want to be the last owner of major oil production so that when the oil runs out everywhere else, making America the only producer of oil for the world. The goal is to import as much oil as possible. I have to wonder if this is why, in part, there's such a massive resistance to nuclear energy by many American politicians. With nuclear energy removing oil from the energy equation, oil fields will drain slower and there'd be less demand for the hypothetical 'American only oil' in the future.
