About

Body Building Forum "Days In A Week" Dispute refers to a viral debate that took place in 2008 on BodyBuilding.com, a website featuring editorial style content as well as a web forum where people discuss bodybuilding and fitness-related topics. After a user named m1ndless asked if he would see progress after doing a "full body workout every other day," various members of the forum began to argue whether this meant working out three times a week or four. The bodybuilding forum's "days in a week" dispute has made notable appearances in internet discourse in subsequent decades.

Origin

On May 17th, 2008, Body Building forum user "m1ndless" began a thread titled, "Full Body Workout Every Other Day?" The user asked others on the forum if it's safe and productive to do full-body workouts every other day due to time constraints. "m1ndless" received a response from "all pro" on May 17th that said that working out three times a week is fine (seen below).[1]

Is it safe to do a full body workout every other day? I only have limited days I can get to the gym, and latley instead of doing upperbody or lowerbody I just do full body strenth workouts. I am trying to gain as much as I can without getting fat. Originally Posted by mindless Is it safe to do a full body workout every other day? Subsequent replies from other BodyBuilding forum users like "Josh" and "steviekm3" gave rise to debate about what working out "every other day" entailed, given that this could mean three or four workouts any given week.

Do a half workout or something? lol 05-17-2008, 02:23 PM TheJosh Registered User NO PROFILE ACTURE UPLOADED Join Date: May 2008 Location: Phoenix, Arizona, United States Age: 35 Posts: 251 Rep Power: 631 05-17-2008, 03:25 PM steviekm3 Registered User Join Date: Apr 2008 Age: 49 Posts: 240 Rep Power: 186 Originally Posted by Justin-27 D 7x in 2 weeks = 3.5 times a week, genius. Week 1 - Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday Week 2 - Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. 8 DAYS IN 2 WEEKS In your terms, 8x in 2 weeks = 4 times a week, genius. All Muscle and No Brains? lol You double counted Sunday - that is 2 weeks plus 1 day. Did you fail grade 2 math? PLUS your old post said 4 or 5 times a week. Now you just neglect to mention the 5. Grow up and admit when you are wrong. Believe me you will get a a lot further in life this way. #9 #10

The thread continued for five pages, devolving into name-calling and debates over rudimentary math (seen below).

Who the f-- argues that you cannot start counting a split/routine on a day off? Or that it is impossible to average 3.5 workouts a week? Or that a 2 week period has to start on a Sunday, and end the next Sunday, the 15th day? You two are the goddam dumbest people to post on a internet forum, stfu and save what little grace you have left. #121 Shut the fucck up, punk. You're a dumb piece of ****. When you can't prove that I am wrong, you resort to personal attacks . Dumb, slow pos, fucckhead. Originally Posted by SmoovJ Why are you comparing percentage to frequency? .333 is %, 3.5 times is frequency. That doesn't make sense to me. I am not accusing anyone of being a troll. Call me one if you want but I've made valid points in all my posts in this thread. #122 Simply saying that %'s and fractions are used all the time and people can figure out what it implies. Instead of saying a guy's batting 112 for 448, they simply say he's batting .250 and nobody's saying, 'wait a second, you can't get a quarter of a hit??' If you'd rather say 7 out 14 days so that fractions or decimals aren't involved, no problem. Nobody will dispute that. But if you want it in terms of a week to compare against 3 or 4 times per week, then a decimal or fraction is necessary.
