I don't really know what Nintendo used exactly to create this game, but this could very well be a quick of the engine, or deliberate model stretching to accentuate a cartoony transitions between two dynamic postures.

Kinda like how Overwatch did for a lot of it's characters. It's so short nobody notices except when you go frame per frame.
