You are reading too har into it. Nobody is denying or questioning the reasoning for the bans. People are just taking a piss at jannies, an age-old internet sport that predates even 4chan, though they certainly popularized it.

That is all. There is no logic or reason to be applied here, no matter how much we think there should be. Think of it like people watching patients at an asylum yelling at each other – if the workers try and lecture literal insane people about morals (and hypothetically for free) and somehow expecting them to respond in kind, then yes, it is funny even if it is expected and they are doing their job. That is what most people seeing these comments see – a moderator trying to reason with escaped asylum patients.

I belive the reason is that while they 100% had to grab ban hammer and start some whacking, they did it a little too indiscriminately for the eyes of many people to quote the description : "banning people who so much as upvoted/downvoted the wrong posts"
but that's just the way I see it this, also why so many downvotes ?
