To be honest, that series sounds like it would be incredibly boring due to the lack of conflict. It's also worth noting that girls can technically marry at 16 in Japan (although relationships between adults and minors, i.e. those under 20, are highly frowned upon.) The mothers can be as young as 34 and can still look fairly youthful until around 50 due to how well many East Asians age. A number of series do take it to an extreme, however.
