It's like that in aviation too. In Instructor school you're half-way encouraged to steal/take as much material from peers as possible. It's even acceptable practice to outright buy and sell your lesson plans to other instructors.

Of course, that's not the whole job, you still have to actually learn how to use and teach the material you get, but still.
