i need more people to realize that the second you create a categorical group that deserves to be killed no matter what you have sentenced marginalized people to death queersatanic Follow Jul 10 "That may be true, but it doesn't include pieces of s--- domestic abusers." Cue the counter accusations against Amber Heard. "OK, but not pedophiles." Cue all of the "groomer" accusations from reactionaries looking to eradicate trans and queer people from public life. "All right, but that doesn't include LITERAL NAZIS. That's just a warmed up version of the paradox of tolerance." Cue how Russia sought to justify its invasion of Ukraine and the justifications of war crimes done there. If someone didn't support the invasion and occupation of their country, surely that meant they were one of those Ukrainians in need of de-Nazification, which justified all violations of them up to and including torture and death. The USA did similar things with "terrorists" and "enemy combatants", and huge portions of the USAian population forgave it if not actively supporting it. When you say, "These people lie outside of humanity and they deserve anything that happens to them," you are guaranteeing people with power will shove their victims into that category. That doesn't mean pacifism. It doesn't mean that individual abusers and fascist movement ought to only be stopped "civilly" or through debate. It does mean that "exterminate all the brutes" will follow existing power dynamics like water flows downhill, and the people least able to defend themselves will be the ones targeted.
