Hard to tell in this instance, but sadly, there are people who believe in that out there, and thus, ironically enforce rigid gender roles. Satire is well and truly dead.

But I don't think actual transgenders think this way, just activists who have lots of preconceived notions of the world that they refuse to get rid of. But there's an issue: transpeople aren't a significant portion of the population, meaning the crazy activists likely outnumber the transgenders, so it's incredibly difficult to hear their actual voices, even if we somehow made them all speak out at once. As a result, the popular perception of trans people nowadays is attributed to the antics of the dysfunctional activists.

It should be common sense that not conforming to stereotypes associated with your gender/sex doesn't automatically make you trans, and anyone who assumes that is "misgendering" you. But people should also do well to realize that the anybody who think that way are poor representatives of actual transpeople.
