- Posted by 547 Teachers of color, help! Ethical crisis! Teacher Support &/or Advice Indigenous American here. I do not understand nor say the pledge of allegiance and I probably never will. It makes me incredibly uncomfortable. Frankly, being forced to participate in this little song and dance it feels like an intentional act of aggression and oppression. 5 hours ago I've been very low-key about it but my school is starting to learn my true feelings, and they're very cult- like with the pledge. They want everyone in the school to drop what they're doing and chant along during morning announcements. Have you ever been in such a situation? What should I do?
