It's a Brick Joke.
In Revenge of Cooler Goku revives a bird for mysterious reasons and refers to it as Toriyama, the name of Dragon Balls creator.
As he sends it off he tells it to teach a dinosaur to ride a ball, which is a reference to the lyrics of famous Dragon Ball opening "Cha-la Head-Cha-La".

Way later Android 16 encounters Toriyama and finds out that the tiny bird did indeed, teach a dinosaur to ride a ball.
