People often misuse the term "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." It means that everyone has a different perception of the world and therefore has different tastes for what is beautiful. What could be disgusting to one person could be magnificant to another and vice versa. This means trying to make an objective standard for beauty is futile as it is by definition subjective on a case by case basis.
