Yes, obviously systemic racism is an issue but I seriously think I just cracked something here. So I went to the one video store left in my area last night and hired a couple seasons of Cops and had an all-night marathon. I noticed that almost every time a black dude ran, he would reach for his waistband as he was running. Of course I'm like s------- myself on the couch because I'm stoned but also because he's obviously reaching for a weapon, or it at least looks like he is, and someone's about to get their s--- way f----- up. But then 99% of the time there was no weapon, dude wasn't reaching for anything. THEN I realized like, h--------, these dudes are just trying to hold their pants up. They're all in those stupid too-big jeans with no belt and they've gotta hold onto their waistbands or their pants will fall down and so will they. It took me a good few episodes to come to this conclusion, and I wonder how many cops misinterpret them holding their pants up for reaching for a weapon, too. I wonder how many lives f------ BELTS could save if people chose to wear them? I reckon that at least a few people would have better results here.
