About

Cookie Monster Alphabet is a series of video remixes based off of a segment from the children's television show Sesame Street in which Kermit the Frog attempts to sing the alphabet with a child. Besides video remixes, it has also spawned a popular reaction image based on a face made by Kermit in the video.

Origin

The original episode from which the clip is taken first aired on November 19, 1973.[1] In the segment, Kermit attempts to sing the alphabet with a young girl named Joey, who keeps replacing various letters with "Cookie Monster" to the annoyance of Kermit. The skit was uploaded to YouTube on December 18, 2006, where it gained nearly 1.5 million views. The first edit of the video, entitled "Kermit Destroys Humanity", was uploaded by SuperNES16 almost exactly 2 years later on December 17, 2008.

Kermit's Reaction

During the original video, Kermit is shown to make an annoyed reaction, created by the puppeteer scrunching his hand while inside the puppet. Because of its perceived hilarity, screencaps and variants of the face have become a popular reaction image.
