You raise some interesting points, but also I'm 98% sure this is just a human in a costume.

We're getting better at human-like robots. Like, this is still creeping a little bit into the uncanny valley, but so much less so then if it were human-like proportions in it's face.

The more static movements work better with designs that feel like they should be seen in cartoons, because they're so often animated a little more staticy (At least with most 2D ones, outside of high budget stuff and flash animation). This makes it so it doesn't quite register, at least in my brain, as "Almost human but deliberately not." It's more "Almost Cartoon given life."

Don't get me wrong, there's stil a lot of ways to go, but I legitimately think if we travel down this pathway, we'll be avoiding a lot of human on robot prejiduce, just due to our primal lizard brains being able to register them as different creatures, rather then "Human, but deliberatley wrong and shouldn't exist."
