SQUID GAME Poor people are forced by rich people to play deadly games Giant criticism of capitalism, classism, and consumerism X THE DRAGON PRINCE The animation is gorgeous but holy About a black royal family that gets betrayed by an evil white sorcerer hell it's political propaganda The heroes meet many disabled LGBTQIA+++ POC who help them on their journey All but one white character is evil, and no nonwhite characters are evil BLACK MIRROR BOJACK HORSEMAN Show that mixes comedy and existential depression The first season was good, but since Netflix acquisition it's gone downhill About the Germanic barbarians that fought the Roman Army A couple good episodes, but the rest are just "watch white man use technology to harm minorities" STRANGER THINGS Made specifically so Gen X parents can point at the TV and exclaim "I remember that!" Set in 1980s Indiana, but the writers made all the characters behave like 2022 Californians DAHMER Was way, way longer than it needed to be, began to feel exploitave Retconned actual history for an Idpol political narrative, it's disgusting BARBARIANS Essentially a bunch of sex scenes and gory executions of Roman soldiers loosely tied together with a plot But the one and only piece of media I've ever seen where the characters speak in Classical Latin, so points for that FREE SPACE Ugly animation but excellent writing Goes hard lefty in the last two seasons but sticks the landing MINDHUNTER About the FBI in the 1970s First few episodes were genuinely good, then became propaganda THE ASSASSINATION OF GIANNI VERSACE Miniseries about the 1997 killing of Gianni Versace and the aftermath Gives a lot of info about the gay rights movement in the 1990s YERBI MATE I stopped watching before the ending A show about a possible Nazi/ Japanese takeover of the US Aesthetic as f---, I love the color palette THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE Could never have happened, so I treat it as a fantasy Really popular among the "DRUMPF IS HITLER!!!" crowd HOUSE OF CARDS Follow a man on a quest for infinite power and listen to his silky-sweet voice 11.22.63 Miniseries about a man who goes back in time to stop the Kennedy assassination Netflix's flagship show until the star got #MeToo'ed and the quality nosedived Becomes a standard. love triangle story and gets kinda boring before redeeming itself MAN SEEKING WOMAN Satirical comedy about dating as a millennial Best children's cartoon ever made Extremely funny, I'm sad it got cancelled DEGRASSI The first 10 years were good, depicted realistic high school struggles and had relatable characters A Jay Baruchel and Eric Andre have great chemistry Ratings quickly dropped off and the show ended in 2017 AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER Then around 2012 went full libleft and every character became an LGBTQIA+++ POC Addressed heavy subjects such as genocide, war crimes, and taking life Excellently paced and acted OZ HBO drama about life in prison Very violent and a lot of r--- and murder Made in the late 90s and definitely quite dated now THE PEOPLE VS. OJ SIMPSON Ambiguous depiction of the OJ Simpson controversy Implies that he did it but also implies that all cops are racist SEINFELD Jewish New York humor, was revolutionary for its time but just meh today Millennial couples love watching it for some reason Formulaic and repetitive My sister and I loved this show in late elementary school Watched it after school in like sixth grade Hyperbolic about minor drama, it's campy as f--- ZOEY 101 FLIGHT 29 DOWN BABYLON BERLIN "Lost" for kids Noir mystery series set in Weimar Germany The finale was the hype event of the decade Thought that this is what college would be like To this day I think of the characters as older than me, and I'm in my 20s THE WILD THORNBERRYS My favorite cartoon as a little kid, like 4-8 years old I'm convinced it stoked my interests in history, biology, and geography Made me want to travel the world GALLIPOLI Miniseries about the Gallipoli Campaign of WWI This subject almost never gets talked about so this is refreshing THE PACIFIC Depicts the war as necessary, but horrifying One long emotional heartbreak Excellently made, highly recommend So so gory OVER THE GARDEN WALL Children's cartoon depicting American folktales Also the whole thing is a parody of Dante's Inferno Beautifully animated Excellent setpieces and acting They try to apply modern morals to the 1920s though which doesn't work that well NED'S DECLASSIFIED SCHOOL SURVIVAL GUIDE My favorite comedy show when I was in middle school, so relatable Sat in class and had daydream fantasies about being so cool THE quintessential teen show of the mid 2000s I remember coming home from school so hype to watch the antics The actors had amazing chemistry IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA IMO the best comedy ever put on television Watch horrible people hurt everyone around them BAND OF BROTHERS Best WWII series ever Has really fallen off in the past three seasons Made 20 years ago but the special effects hold up opge LA The acting, score, pacing, and cinematography are excellent Children's cartoon made by PBS about the Revolutionary War Although rated TV- Y7 it doesn't shy away from implying violence Does a very good job at depicting history in a balanced way KLONDIKE Miniseries about the Klondike Gold Rush, got me interested in this little- known piece of history Campy stock characters but excellent set Genuinely engaging throughout but has mostly faded into obscurity ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Very clever comedy that set a standard for future work LIBERTY'S KIDS THE BOONDOCKS JOHN ADAMS Genius satirical comedy about the black community in the United States POLICE The Netflix reboot is an atrocity TYRANT Makes evil despots into relatable characters Excellent period piece, inspired me to learn more about interwar British history A show about power dynamics in an Arab political family Excellent writing and great deadpan comedic delivery I'm p----- it got cancelled after a couple seasons Uses the n word frequently Could never be made today Breaking bad spin-off, not as interesting The best acting I've ever seen on TV Excellent pacing, every episode includes some exciting twist BETTER CALL SAUL Takes six seasons to tell a story that could've been told in three BREAKING BAD SECESSION IMO the best TV show ever made About the power struggles of an extremely rich family Becomes formulaic, a long stretch of "watch Saul do scam" RENO 911! NARCOS Netflix show about Pablo Escobar's rise to power, Parody of COPS, made police yet another opportunity for Gen X parents to look like buffoons point at the TV and say "ooh I remember that" Tons of action and violence ROME About the glories of Rome and two common Roman soldiers DRAKE AND JOSH PEAKY BLINDERS LEGEND OF KORRA (S1) BLUE MOUNTAIN STATE 1920s gangsters commit Glorifies Roaring The only season that exists as far as I'm concerned When I was in high school I thought it Raunchy show about a college various crimes and say iconic catchphrases Twenties Hong football team K-I mean "Republic City" Way better animation and score than ATLA Goes really in depth, it's awesome Source of infinite memes and a fandom Lowkey endorses the cartels My dad loves it Biopic miniseries Slow-paced, about the life of high-minded, John Adams but very immersive Humanizes them EFFD Must-watch for history nerds 3+ seasons of "oh no, who will inherit billions of dollars!?" TRUST Miniseries about the kidnapping of JP Getty III Very entertaining, and Donald Sutherland is excellent (X) Plus it's set in Italy so brownie points was so awesome and couldn't wait to go to college Objectifies hell out of women and would never be made today TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND Comedy about a sadistic television producer who tortures kids The most iconic Cartoon Network show as far as I'm concerned Seriously funny even as an adult
