I mean, its literally just getting a spokesperson to advertise your product to a specific base, its been a thing for ages. Wheaties famously has been doing it for decades with athletes. In this case, they were using a transgender spokesperson to appeal to people who respect LGBTQ+ people instead of Olympians to advertise to people who appreciate athletes.
