The game's title is still "Super Mario Kart R," Kamek shown to be a playable racer instead of Donkey Kong in a few of these screenshots, the title screen and character art are different from the final version,

Note that the game is shown to be planned for a Q4 release on a 64 megabit cartridge. Ultimately, the game was a 1997 release outside of Japan and was shipped on a 96 megabit cartridge, being just slightly too big for the smaller cartridge size. These differences might be connected to a known incident described by Tomoaki Kuroume, where a hard drive crash occurred midway through development, leading to the creation of new character models that were capable of being animated in the character select screen.
