Bro, I was bummed when it was revealed that magic doesn't exist in this series and that Gwen is just half alien.
I mean, I guess it's consistent but literal magic is not an alien (pun not intended) concept for superhero stuff.

They undid that, she's still an alien from species with an affinity for magic but it's still actual magic, it just explains why she learned magic so fast to get to Hex and Charmcaster's level.
One of Ben's aliens Terraspin also has an affinity for magic and although we never see Ben casting spells in this form we do see a member of it's species being almost godlike at magic.
