About

Ben 10 is an American animated series created by Man of Action, a group consisting of Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, and Steven T. Seagle, and produced by Cartoon Network Studios. The show follows the adventures of a 10-year-old boy named Ben Tennyson, who finds a watch-shapped alien gear called Omnitrix that lets him transform into various alien creatures.

Premise

The show follows Ben Tennyson (voiced by Tara Strong), a 10 year old boy on a cross country summer vacation, with his cousin Gwen Tennyson (voiced by Meagan Smith) and his grandfather Max (voiced by Paul Eiding). On their first camping night, Ben finds a mysterious watch-like alien device called Omnitrix, which attach on his wrist letting him transform into alien life-forms. During their vacation, the Tennysons are attacked by various enemies ranging from space aliens to supernatural entities, and Ben has to learn he responsibilities of being a hero.



History

Ben 10 was created by Man of Action, a group consisted on the comic creators Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, and Steven T. Seagle, and worked on the concept for 3 years before Cartoon Network picked the series. The pilot aired on December 27th, 2005 as part of a sneak peek on Cartoon Network, and the second episode was premiered as an special on January 13th, 2006. The final episode aired on April 15th, 2008, being followed three days after by the premiere of a sequel: Ben 10: Alien Force, airing up to March 26th, 2010. This series was followed by another sequel, Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, that aired from April 23rd, 2010 to March 31st, 2012. A fourth installment of the franchise, Ben 10: Omniverse, aired from September 22nd, 2012 to November 14th, 2014 as a reboot of the franchise.



Reception

The franchise has been nominated various times to awards, winning an Emmy on "Outstanding Individual in Animation" for Ben 10 and two on "Outstanding Sound Mixing" for Ben 10: Alien Force and Ben 10: Omniverse.[11] On IMDb, Ben: 10 and Ben 10: Alien Force have a score of 7,[7][8] Ben 10: Ultimate Alien has a score of 7,4 and Ben 10: Omniverse has a score of 6.[9][10]

Fandom

The series has followings on on websites like Tumblr,[6] Reddit[13], Fanfiction.com[12] or 4chan's board /co/.[5] There's also an official Wikia about the series.[4] As of April 24th, the online artist community DeviantART has over 55,300 submissions submitted under the keywords "Ben 10".[1] Parallely, a wiki featuring fan-made stories and aliens has over 32,500 pages.[3]

Ben 10… this was like, one of the decent cartoons that was actually worth following up on when there was barely anything on TV (2005-2009-ish). Fun concept, (pretty sure everybody had a favorite alien,) animation was pretty cool, etc etc.

Then Omniverse happened.
