Gardevoir can create a tiny black hole if its trainer's life is in danger. I always thought that was really cool, if kind of tragic--i imagine it's a last ditch effort kind of thing, it'll delete whatever enemy is there but also could take gardevoir with it.

Imagine the trainer waking up and finding himself alone, the battlefield empty and warped from the destructive power unleashed there as the only testament to what went down there while you were unconscious. You call out to gardevoir but never receive an answer back, it's pokeball lies shattered on the ground next to you.

Now consider what happened in the backstory of the first Mystery Dungeon. A trainer sought out a Ninetails and despite the warnings, touched one of its tails and was struck with a curse. However, his Gardevoir instinctively took the curse in his place and was struck down. The Ninetails took pity on her and was going to ask the human if he would save Gardevoir from his own mess, but the coward fled, leaving her behind. Despite being reduced to a spirit and abandoned, she didn't harbor any ill will towards him.
