Darling in the Franxx explores the relationship of a boy and a demon who were violently separated after becoming childhood friends, indoctrinated into a brutal military program, and forced to serve the interests of an authoritarian government run by immortal rich oligarchs. It is one of the worst-written shows I've ever seen.

Fire Emblem Fates. I love light vs dark dynamics, and this had all the pieces for a great story. But it feels like the writer just made the hard hitting plot points, but didn't have a way to connect them properly.
