* Pikipeck & Toucannon were originally unrelated. At some point, the decision was made to make it part of the same family, which led to the creation of Trumbeak.
* A basilisk/plant line pokemon was scrapped. According to its final evo's similarities with Salazze, it was at one point considered as a potential counterpart to her.
* Besides its design already resembling fanart, the other reason the Flying Eeveelution was scrapped was because there wasn't much pressure/need with introducing a newer Eevee evolution by that point.
* Mimikyu getting alternate forms is mentioned here too.

A version of the Battle Frontier was intended to return for Sun & Moon. It would've been called "The Battle Cruise", allowed you to fight strong trainers & champions from different regions as it travelled across the world.

The Throwing Styles feature introduced in Sun and Moon was originally planned for Pokémon X and Y. Some styles were even considered to be event exclusive and distributed through Wi-Fi.
