Fascinatingly, the reason for this is the same as for the famous Parallel Universes in Super Mario 64, whereby Mario encounters a parallel version of the cutscene very far away. In Super Paper Mario, there is a glitch that allows Mario to clip out of bounds everywhere by tossing a Gold Bar, using Slim's ability, catching the Gold Bar near a wall or edge, pressing 1+2, selecting another Pixl and finally jumping into the out of bounds area. Doing this in Chapter 3-2 in the room with the Blooper boss will cause Mario to go off screen to the left. If the player then uses Dashell to dash to the left for 4 hours straight while off-screen, Blooper will start appearing and the game will crash (with that classic Wii crash sound). The technical reason for this is fascinating: Mario's position is stored as a float variable (which can go to infinity) while the cutscene scripts truncate the floats in their calculations, wrapping around if the value is too high or too low. If this sounds familiar, it is because this is exactly the same issue that gives rise to parallel universes in Super Mario 64, whereby the game truncates a float to check for floors under Mario, causing the floor collision to seemingly wrap around and creating extra copies of the level far away. Walking to the left for 4 hours causes Mario to encounter a "parallel universe" version of the Blooper cutscene, causing an error and crashing the game. In Tokimeki Memorial, if the player is trying to woo several girls, those that feel neglected due to the player not spending enough time with them will have a bomb appear next to them on the character list. If the player is not quick enough in meeting with the girl in question and defusing the tension, the bomb will explode, signifying the girl ruining the player character's reputation with malicious rumors. Since the bomb going off in Tokimeki Memorial can often make certain routes completely unwinnable, the usage of a bomb by Peach to show Francis can never woo her would be recognized as a reference.
