I don't think I'll ever understand why they decided to have a movie take place in Canterlot High.

It just seems to wasteful. The idea of a former student of Celestia growing jealous and power hungry and seeking revenge against Twilight Sparkle is cool, why not do it in Equestria? They wouldn't have had to spend so much of the movie having Twilight re-meet her friends and bring them back together again, and could have instead devoted much more time towards an interesting and exciting story, building up Sunset Shimmer to her full power and making her a truly threatening villain like NMM, Discord, Chrysalis, and Sombra.

I feel much the same way, she's definitely not in the same league as the big four. For a distinctly lesser villain to be the arch antagonist of a two-hour movie is unforgivable. Especially since her primary archtype, an anti-Twilight Sparkle, was already being fulfilled quite nicely by Trixie.

I really feel like EqG didn't bring anything new to the mythos. It truly is just a meaningless detour, at least to me.

I swear, if Meghan was lieing to us, and brings Flash Sentry into S4 in any way… I think I'll be very upset.

I think he was just referring to the way that most of the songs aren't actually sung by the characters.
And yes, Tarzan did have an awesome soundtrack :D
