What makes it even worse is when you understand the antinomy of an equine (back) leg compared to a human leg.

That joint on an equine is technically part of the heel/ankle and the knee is much higher up. This is the bone structure for the back legs of most legged animals actually.
So our lovely fusion here would technically have two sets of heels/ankles joints and two sets of tibia/fibula (lower leg) bones.
